Publicado en 9 Julio 2015

Long ago, in a village on the Yukon River, they lived four brothers and one sister. The youngest of the brothers was the playmate of the child. The other brothers were great hunters and in the fall they moved to the coast, since they lived near the sea, and in the spring were going to the mountains to hunt reindeer. The younger brother never went with them because others considered him slow and sluggish.

One night the brothers arrived in the village, exhausted after a day of hunting, she fared bring food to Kashim (House of Assembly), where hunters slept. When he headed there, she saw in the countryside high ladder reaching to heaven and a rope to his side. Curious, he climbed the rope. As he did, the younger brother saw what he was doing and went to alert his older brothers:

"Our sister is climbing into the sky! Our sister is climbing into the sky! "

"Oh, lazy boy, why do we wake up with these lies? "They said.

"Come and see for yourselves, quick!" She said breathlessly.

Indeed, she was climbing up the rope despite still loaded with food for his brothers. The lowest decided to go after her and immediately began to climb the stairs, and could barely see his sister who climbed the rope. Rose so high the two, the girl became the sun and moon transformed the boy.

Since then, he pursued but never reached: the evening sun sets in the West and go to the moon appear in the east to go after the sun, but it's always too late, never reached.

The moon, being without food, gradually decrease hunger, until almost out of sight. This is when the sun, the sister comes over and gives the food that kept them in the basket that led to Kashim to his brothers. After the moon has been fed, slowly getting fatter and slower their journey, so the sun will go ahead and the moon go hungry again until his sister have mercy and then to offer food. Thus, the phases of the moon we see every month occur.
